Alun Owens Cottage is one of three cottages set in the grounds of the owners’ lovely country house, Penally House. It has been renovated and stylishly furnished throughout, step into this deceptively spacious cottage with open plan living space full of retained character, yet sympathetically renovated with beautiful exposed stone walls, beams and quarry tiled floor, the wood burning stove ensures cosy, relaxing evenings, whatever the weather. Stairs from the lounge lead to the bedrooms nestling in the eaves. You have your own paved terrace, but are welcome to relax on the bench strategically placed so you can watch the beautiful Teifi river, which skirts the shared grounds and wends its way to the sea. The River Teifi is a haven for river and sea birds, spend your days exploring its banks which are a boat owners paradise and inspiration for the many artists and writers who choose this cottage for their holiday.
There are good restaurants, shops and pubs within walking distance in St Dogmaels, while the beautiful sandy beach at Poppit is only 2 miles away and marks the start of The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, an excellent way to explore our stunning coastline. The pretty market town of Cardigan is only a 5 minute drive away and is renowned for its specialist shops, restaurants, farmer’s market and boat trips around Cardigan Bay, an outstanding and internationally important area for marine wildlife, it even has its resident population of Bottlenose Dolphins, Porpoises and Grey Seals. A wonderful, characterful holiday cottage for a couple or small family to enjoy a relaxing break.
